Problem Based Learning

Promoting The Reading Strategies in Students of Ninth Grade in order to Improve English Learning

According to what has been experienced at the instituion, there has been a difficulty in the reading skill, not only in English, but also in other subjects. Students do not apply reading strategies, they do not follow instructions and they are not aware about the importance of reading for academic and professional scenarios.

In this proposal I plan to design instruments in which students can collect information about the situation presented at the school and be aware about how to apply and what the strategies for the best reading are, having in mind the constitutions of cognitive constructs that develop students' conscious of a good reader.

Students will search for the last investigations about how the brain works when reading, for example: how our brain selects information from texts, what information matters for different people, when to memorize or infer, how to relate old and new information and create map minds that help to remind general or specific information.

Finally, this process will constitute the framework of a research project in which all the students will interact and practice what they found when applying the insturments mentioned  above.
